MORE THAN 1 MILLION
OF MEN AND WOMEN
INCARCERATED IN THE USA
IN INHUMAN CONDITIONS
Imagine living 23/24 hours in a cage, alone, without seeing the sky, without social interaction. This is the daily life of thousands of Americans parked like cattle on death row, often for decades, waiting to be slaughtered. It is hard to believe what is going on inside the lives of these individuals in 2020! And yet...
Our primary motivation is to restore the living conditions of American death row prisoners by working with the DOC (Department of Correction) to bring about concrete changes and actions that directly relate to the needs of prisoners.
The priority is to improve the sanitary conditions and general treatment of inmates in these facilities where viruses and diseases are spread due to the unsanitary conditions and where human rights are violated on a daily basis. We are campaigning for the abolition of the death penalty in the USA, but we are aware that this will take time and it is URGENT for these men and women to live in descending human conditions.
To go further, we wish to defend the rights and good treatment of all American prisoners. Access to health care, care for psychologically affected inmates, food rations, leisure activities to maintain mental balance, visiting conditions to maintain family and friendships, financial support for totally isolated inmates. We wish to put an end to the abusive solitary confinement that is still all too present in the USA and destroys prisoners both physically and mentally.
In short, we want to restore the American prison population to decent living conditions and protect their rights through concrete and rapid action and measures!
SOME KEY STATISTICS
OF THE PRISONERS ARE BLACK AMERICANS
1/5 PRISONER OF DEATH ROW IS POTENTIALLY INNOCENT
80 BILLION DOLLARS SPENT ANNUALLY ON THE PRISON SYSTEM.
Inmates in American prisons cost American taxpayers an enormous amount of money, yet they live in inhumane conditions!
Lack of medical care, poor nutrition, unsanitary conditions...
Add to that, for some of them, the cruelty of death row! The death penalty is a cruel punishment that should no longer exist today. But beyond that, the life of those condemned to death is unbearably violent. They live for decades in cages, sometimes without seeing daylight for months at a time. Treated like monsters, dehumanized, disoriented, they are destroyed by this system, before being legally put to death by the state.
